A Mantra - Om Ma Ne Pad Me Hum

Lately there were too many things happening in my outer world making my meditation a very difficult task. I had a sense of desperation in my work situation. I simply could not empty my mind while meditating. As soon as I felt I was ready to clear the thought, a full motion picture will stream through my consciousness. The movie in the mind screen would play back frames after frames of daily encounter, before I knew it, it was completely out of control.

So, two days ago, I set out to revise my meditation routine, I chanted a Mantra to help clear my mind of intruding thought. The Mantra that I use is one of the highest Mantra blessing for humanity according to Tibetan Monk.

I started using it on Friday morning meditation, I was quite successful with it and since this mantra also invoke a cosmic sound of blessing, I felt that my situation in life can only be helped by it. So, I used the Mantra again this morning. When I finished my meditation, my anxiety, sadness and hopelessness that I felt for the past several days was gone, replacing it with a sense of calmness and serenity.

The most incredible thing is I set out to solve problem that I have at work. I have some kind of inspiration and just know what to do to solve it. This afternoon, I went online to my company website, retrieved the needed data for my experiment. After about one and 1/2 hours concentration, I have figured out the problem of the account that I am currently managing. I feel great confidence that I can present the case. Here is the affirmation I have used for the last several days. The affirmation helped me to set a positive mind set in a could be very negative situation.

I relax and cast aside all mental burdens,
allowing God to express through me
His perfect love, peace, and wisdom.

Electrical current

I am using electrical current as an analogy for my meditative experience. It does not happen often, but when it does, it is like a wave of electrical current course through my entire being in just a second. I am wondering, what happens in that instant physiologically?

I now realize when science claims that energy and matter are interchangeable, they are basically one and the same, matter being the lowest vibration and the highest density.

When we meditate, we are piercing into higher level of vibrational reality; and with that, the veil of inner world of ultimate reality is gradually revealed to us.

Autobiography of a Yogi

It is fortuitous that I have the opportunity to read "Autobiography of a Yogi". It is a treasure for people who seek the truth of our ultimate reality without outward guidance of a teacher. My teacher is my living environment, my teacher is my daily interaction with people, my teacher is the book that I have the fortune to read, my teacher is my meditation, and ultimately, my teacher is my Higher Self, the part of me infinitely resourceful and infinitely wise. My Higher Self that sets up circumstances so perfectly for me to learn and grow not just once, but numerous times until I assimilate each lesson into part and parcel of my very being. Yes, the learning opportunity is relentless, and insistent. Yes, the lesson will be presenting itself over and over again until I got it. Some lessons I will learn it in an instant, but some may take me a few hundred years, nevertheless, learn I will. And so will everyone else in this world. Not a soul will be lost!

When I read this book, I am savoring the aroma of wisdom emitting from the pages. I will read a sentence or two and so enchanted with the profound meaning and wisdom that I will put the book down and contemplate it. It is a splendid gem among the spiritual jewels.

Don't lose sight of The Goal

Last three days, while in meditative state, I had an intoxicated feeling first permeating in the forehead and then gradually descending down to the upper body, at the same time I also felt a great sense of relaxation, like layers of layers of tensions and worldly concern melted. In this state of meditation, thought intrusions of any kind have no disurbing effect on the meditation. It is like clouds that floating in the blue sky, once dissolved, left no trace on a clear day.

I remember I had the same meditative feeling two years ago when I meditated in earnest. How time has quickly passed and it would take me two years to pick up the pieces again.

I was like a traveler aimed originally to climb Mount Everest of 29,000 feet, and yet was distracted by the green pastures and beautiful flowers, wondering around the forest and thought that the pastures and flowers weren't too bad after all. The ambition of climbing the steep mountain was forgotten, the 360-degree panorama view from the highest peak seemed impossible to reach.

Lucid dream, astral travel, are like little distractions here and there all the more enticing me to yearn for inner experiences. I have come to realize that they should not be the reason of my meditation. Meditation is a means to have deep communion with our source, to realize our true nature. If meditation leads to other spiritual adventures, then they are treated as extra bonus and not to be focused on exclusively. The goal is to reach the highest level of frequency, vibration, consciousness and awareness. So, press on and persevere!

A flashback

My main spiritual goal for last year was to learn lucid dreaming. I will not say that I failed, but I could say that I was not successful. Actually the last several months I practically giving up trying. The main reason is that I had decided to focus my energy to serious meditation. I can not juggle, within my limited time, with both meditation and lucid dreaming. I have to choose either one of them but definitely not both.

I had some interesting dreams, read some good books, took a trip to Hawaii, rode a helicopter. These were the things that I did, but the most important growth came from within, an inner understanding and constant endurance of personal relationship among family members and my co-workers.

I have known several wonderful people in my professional life outside of my company. I can impart goodwill, fairness and understanding towards others, because they don't stay with us at the end of the day. The most challenging interpersonal activity will always be the people in our inner circle. life is not a race that you win or lose, life is a progressive learning toward the realization of our infinite self.

I shall continue walking the path of liberation!

The Light

I will sit in my car to meditate during lunch hour. I will breathe slowly and deeply the first few moments, send my intent to relax the body and the mind. Gradually, every muscle of my being will be limp and relaxed! The monkey mind though, will always be the last frontier to conquer before I enter into a state of mind expansion.

After a while, my forehead will be shrouded with energy, through my closed eye lids, I sense the sun light permeating my forehead, the light is golden and bright, very much like the clear mid-day Southern California brilliant sunshine. Several times, while conscious and aware in my meditative state, I remember that the day was cloudy and overcast, so I opened my eyes to confirm it and yes, the day was overcast, immediately and at that same time the golden light disappeared.

I had this light experience many times while in the meditative state, whether I conducted in my bedroom or in my car.

I sensed this phenomena but never consider recording them until now because of inspiration coming from the book "Autobiography of a Yogi". I had a sense of joy when I purchased this book in "Barnes & Noble" bookstore a couple of days ago. This book has crossed my path many times, but I always brushed it off as another boastful self-important inspirational book. Perhaps the student was not ready.

Heaven's Grocery Store

As I was walking down life's highway many years ago
I came upon a sign that read ' Heavens Grocery Store '.
When I got a little closer the doors swung open wide
I soon realised that I was standing inside.
I saw a host of angels.
They were standing everywhere, one handed me a basket and said
“My child, shop with care.”
Everything a human needed was in that grocery store
and what you could not carry you could come back for more.

First I got some Patience.
Love was in that same row.
Further down was Understanding, you need that everywhere you go.
I got a box or two of Wisdom and Faith a bag or two.
and Charity of course, I would need some of that too.
I couldn't miss the Holy Ghost it was all over the place.
Then some Strength and Courage to help me run this race.
My basket was getting full but I remembered I needed Grace,
and then I chose Salvation for
Salvation was for free.

I tried to get enough of that to do for you and me.
Then I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill,
For I thought I had everything to do the Masters will.
As I went up the aisle I saw Prayer and put that in,
For I knew when I stepped outside I would run into sin.
Peace and Joy were plentiful, the last things on the shelf.
Song and Praise were hanging near so I just helped myself.

Then I said to the angel "Now how much do I owe?"
The angel smiled and said "Just take them everywhere you go."
Again I asked "Really now, How much do I owe?"
"My child" he said, "God paid your bill a long, long time ago."

Theater of life

Year 2005 is coming to a close. In retrospect, I wish I could say that I have made a giant leap in every area of my life. The reality is growth seems to be happening painfully slow and many times it was two steps forward and three steps back.

But in time, I realized all the drama of life is merely a staged play. A pre-script play that we are the directors and actors/actresses coming to the theater of earth playing out of our part as a father, a mother, a son, a daughter, a sister, a brother, an employee, a friend, a seeker. We wear many hats while on stage. William Shakespeare said it well "All the world 's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts".

If we play the part with awareness and integrity associated with that role then we are graduated from that play. We will then be given a much more elaborate and more interesting role. But the curtain of theater can fold without any warning, when that happen, we leave the stage and go back to where we came from. We can be here for only several hours, or for as long as a hundred years, but in the end, the experiences are tugged away in the consciousness, the physical aspect of who we are, merely an empty shell after all.

Massive paranoia - A Dream

I got up this morning 6:00 am had a very relaxed meditation. I then got back to sleep at 7:30 am.

"I reported an anomaly in our Internet website serving just a warning to our IT department. Soon, IT department started the full scale investigation of possible sabotage. They rounded up all personnel, cubicles were erected, people were interviewed. There were hushed conversation, whispers and subdued volume of voices. There were finger pointing, back stabbing all around. IT department even gave a serious lecture to every department about security issue. A simple observation escalated to the massive paranoia. "

I woke up from the scenario incredulous of what was happening. It is amazing how the group mind once aroused and set in motion, it is like unstoppable avalanche. A little spark can turn into a forest fire, capable of destroying many acres of plantation and many lives.

Dream is an incredible inner experience, no less dramatic than the physical one. The span of time that houses the dream content is also marvelously short compare to the unfolding of physical event. Dream can serve as mini-lesson, if we are lucky enough to learn from it and avoid having to resort to drama of physical manifestation.

The ancient metaphysical teaching uses dream as different level of learning. They suggest the seeker not only pays attention to maintain certain level of awareness throughout the day, but also remember and record our dream content for the wisdom it impart and for future reference. The adept in metaphysics also warn us not to over analyze our dream. Dream is simply another experience just like any others. It could be fun, entertaining and educational.

Armchair Quarterback

It was long time ago that I heard the term "Armchair Quarterback". It struck me there are plenty of 'armchair quarterback' around, not only just about football game, but also about the game of life.

Yes, the armchair quarterback may never set foot on the football field, never have even played a game or two of football. But, they certainly know the rules of the game, they know how the real quarterback should position himself to gain winning advantage during the game, and if the real quarterback would consult them, they may be able to impart a pointer or two.

"Armchair quarterback" is pervasive in family, in society and even in nations. We certainly should teach other nation about democracy by sending the troop in to eradicate the dictatorship and their way of life, because their way of life sucks, and dictatorship is wrong. Our religion is certainly better than other strange sounding, ignorant and superstitious religion. We are more civilized and advanced therefore we are entitled to own nuclear weapons, but not other barbarian countries, because they might misuse the weapon but not us.

The mentality also exists in the fabric of our own family. There are people that have never "walked in your moccasin", or lived one day of your life. But they seem to know all the answers of your problem. They may not know how to handle their own affair but they know all about yours.

Due to the individualization of our experiences, we often can not understand or appreciate other people's effort. We usually do not see what lies behind the scene. The separation of our consciousness make us judgmental about our neighbors or even our own family. I have long abandoned the notion of criticizing, making assumption of others, putting a label of good or bad on others, for I know that I have not lived one day of their life, I am not qualified to judge, or condemn people who are vastly different from me. My duty to this world is to spread the light, uplift the spirit wherever I go with the understanding that in the end, all are gods.

The best effort ?!

All these years, I believe that I have done the best that I can when handling interpersonal situation. I personally went through a rough start in life. My philosophy is that, If I have survived and thrived from the lowly beginning, anyone has a chance. So, I don't normally push too many buttons, thinking that everyone has lessons to learn according to their own pace; nature, time and maturity will take care of the plight that plagued us in growing pain.

I am now suddenly put in the stern realization that a choice need to be made to somewhat steer the course to the better path for others. It is not a matter of my own self development, it is about being a guiding light that can illuminate a better future for others. By integrating the other side of equation of learning is may be what I need to learn in this stage of my development. My best effort of the past might not be the best after all.

Astral Travel, a glimpse of our immortality

Last week, I have not had a single mind travel experience. There were several fussy, fragmented, mundane and inconsequential dreams only.

When life gets tough, it is always helpful to gain proper perspective of what we have gone through. With mind travel experiences, I am reminded of my immortal and eternal nature. It also reminds me that others are also immortal spirits who have made a decision long ago to bravely come down to this earth plane to learn and grow. Whatever I have gone through, I accept total responsibility.

Some people encounters difficulty by means of kicking, cursing, screaming, blaming and resorting to violent measure, but some quietly accept the experience with the divine understanding that they made a decision, may be eons ago, that they are now harvesting the fruits (whether good or bad) of their labor.

My mind travel experience provides me with a sense of detachment of all what is happening around me. Just as many ages of esoteric wisdom taught us, there are no death, we are merely shading our outer garment and transformed into butterfly-like spirit, a spirit that is indestructible and incorruptible. No bullet can pierce it, no knife can slice it, no bomb can shatter it, a spirit of pure energy, we are!

"How do you know this?", you might ask. By way of my mind travel, I flew through a great black wall, I was hit by spear, I passed the mass of concrete with all of my senses intact. For a seeker of wisdom and knowledge of life, the experience might not be necessary, but what comfort it provides that we have first-hand experience of who we really are!

A shadow

Last night I had two cups of coffee before going to bed. I figured that I probably could not fall asleep immediately, so I meditated about an hour. It took me quite sometime to fall back to sleep after that. During the transition, I had the following experience.

Seeing through my mind's eye, a shadow emerged from nowhere, it blended into my being and I floated out of my body immediately without vibration or other usual sensation. During the time I floated out of my window, the flying got faster and higher, I looked down on the changing scenery below and felt that I was not alone. There was something else that was present that blocked my view below while flying. I saw the usual city, mountain and trees quickly zoomed by. After a while the floating sensation stopped and the scene faded!

When I got back to my senses, I could not make out what was happening. I have done the Aura Cleaning before the meditation. I believe my aura was fairly bright, strong and clear. There would not be any intrusion into my energy field and I was certain of that.

It was an interesting experience. What was that shadow? I don't know. It did not do any harm, on the contrary the flying seemed to be invigorating.

A Trial?

A trial meant to test how well that we have learned our lessons and how well we have applied our lessons to our daily living. For the last several months, I feel that I am in a stage of being tested spiritually. Sometimes I am triumphant, I am being my best self, loving and supportive in every way. but other times I fall back to my old doubtful and bitter self. Am I encountering what they called, "dark nights of the soul" that every seeker bounds to meet sooner or later?

For all that I know about why are we here, why some people have to suffer while others live a charmed life (at least it appears that way). I still can not brush off the possibility of my contribution to other people's suffering. I have a feeling that finally karmic debts that have accumulated over past and present lives have caught up with me. In spite of good work that I have done ( at least I think I have done) at work and in other areas of my life, my family situation is dire. Bitterness, blame, illness and depression hung over the air that we breathe, most unhealthy to the spirit.

I hope I know the answer of what should be done! But non existed that I know of! I shall continue walk the path and do the best that I can and let the Divine take care of the rest.

"The Genius Factory" by David Plotz

This is incredible. I accidentally picked up this book from Rowland Heights library. I never heard of sperm bank before. After I read the book, I searched Internet, there are several such banks exist just in California. The whole thing sounds very much like science fiction.

Mr. Plotz took us a wild ride of grand venture about parent's shopping for a genius child, the long tale of one man's crusade toward saving humanity and the complication of seemingly single-minded mission. This is indeed an eye-opening book.

In the end, no one really knows whether a Nobelist's sperm can produce a Nobel Prize winner. We just don't know enough whether or not if we can engineer our next generation with scientific precision. Mr. Plotz told the story with consideration and compassion toward the donors, parents and children. A very interesting read.

No matter how is our upbringing, in the end there is "free will" involved that ultimately determine the path of our life. Yes, there is destiny, but there is also free will. You have a choice. The choice we made today, may not change much of our immediate future, but it will definitely shape our distant future. And yes, we will be back again to resume our study once we are done with this incarnation. Unless, of course, we have reached a state of being that we have graduated from this earth school of ours.

I must be in a dream - cell phone as a dream sign

I checked in a hotel. The next morning, While I was walking on the lobby, I suddenly heard an announcement through intercom, "James will not have... class this morning. The class has been cancelled". Well, I heard James name. I said to myself, I need to call James to let him know.

I searched in my purse and found my cell phone. I quickly used my normal voice command to dial. Well, it did not have any response, so I manually dialed it again, still no dial tone. I then found that cell phone looked strange; there was a Viking Marking on it. It did not look like my phone. When I looked a little closer and the cell phone turned into an old worn black shoe. And all this time I was holding a worn shoe? How strange! I remember I brought a cell phone with me. So, I searched my purse again, now I touched my cell phone. Instantly I felt relieved that I did bring my cell phone.

I took the phone out and it looked more like a camera than a phone. At that instant, I said to myself, "I must be in a dream, I am in a dream". At the same time, I also realized that I will be late to work, I need to get up now. I got up fully awake. It was 10 minutes later than my usual get up time.

"Lightning Strike" from Donald Davis

All the last week, I read a down-to-earth accounting of what truly happened of WW II, Chief-in-Command General Yamamoto incident in the battleground of Pacific Front. A history book read like a novel. Very interesting.

Three women hanging clothes - A dream

Keep going!

I had a good session of meditation. I usually lied down for about 15 minutes afterward. I started a sensation of vibration and off I went floating about in my bedroom. It was dark and I could not see anything. After several rounds, the floating stopped. I was disappointed and I thought to myself, "Is that all"? Then about one minute later, I floated again, this time while the floating almost stopped, I thought to myself "keep going, keep going". To my surprise, I started the floating sensation again. I floated out of the window of my bedroom. The atmosphere was gray and chilly winter scene. Immediately, I saw tree leaves spreading over the concrete floor, brick houses dotted below from my aerial view, three women were working outside their houses hanging clothes. I was so close to the ground, I felt that I was almost able to touch the women. Then gradually the scene faded.....

The place that I have been did not feel like in United States, it almost like in China or something. The fact that women working outside hanging clothes indicated an unusual phenomenon if it was in US. But who care? I can't get verification anyway.

This conscious projection was not any different than others, except I was able to consciously prolonging the vibration and floating process by just saying to myself "keep going". I am still not able to direct my travel destination, but at least my consciousness has played a part in the process. That was significant.

Vacation In Hawaii

Mom, I, my sister MingYea and her husband Jim were on our long-awaited Hawaiian 9-day trip from October 21 to October 29. It was made possible by my sister's effort. She arranged everything from where we are to stay in hotel to airline ticket purchasing. We stayed in the Kona Island four days and another four days in Maui. What was my impression of Hawaii? It is a beautiful place, green and blue all around. The condo we stayed in Kona Island is just absolutely wonderful. There is a golf course in front of our second story porch, and beyond the golf course, there you are, a 180 degree ocean view. The condo is lovely furnished with crafted sea life, turtles, fish dotted the wall. In the early morning, there were all kinds of birds chirping happily. I got up 6:00 am as usual to do my meditation.

I intended to see the live volcano in Kona Island. We drove to the Volcano National park, but due to our Mom's physical condition, we hiked a little bit but did not venture far enough to see the volcano. But on the way, we saw blackened lava mud and lava rocks all over the place. Jokingly, I was proposing a business deal with Volcano National Park to sell lava rocks and lava mud to the civilized population overseas. Later on, through conversation with locals, my sister found out that the legion has it that the Goddess of Hawaiian Volcano, Pele, is safeguarding the lava rocks and Lava mud as if they were her children. Therefore removing lava rocks from this island is doomed to bad luck. Well, that is the end of our proposition.

In Maui, we drove to the summit of Haleakala National Park of 10,023 feet above sea level. The crater on the summit is expansive and awesome looking. I took a picture on the summit, and probably should have left a graffiti behind noting that I have been here on the wall or something, like some travelers that wrote their names on the bathroom door. :) One of the most impressive trips was the one we visited a rain forest in Iao Valley. Just several miles outskirt of small village, there you are, a sanctuary away from civilization.

On second day in Maui, we traversed on northern coast of Maui called Hana. The Hana highway is a narrow winding road along the coastal area, there are 600 turns and a dozen narrow one-lane bridges. The road to Hana isn't far, but the twist and turn make it a slow going highway. We traveled about half way and decided to turn back, and it took about 6 hours for round trip. The rain forest along the highway is beautiful and it is worthwhile experiencing it's unusually frequent tight turns.

I took a helicopter ride in Maui against the opposition that tried talking me out of it. The ride was an air tour exploring the west of Maui where there are beautiful rain forest, 4000 feet high waterfalls and then across expansive Pacific Ocean to Malokai, known for its highest sea cliff in the world. Through this trip I was able to get some verification or confirmation of my inner experiences.

For years, I had astral travel or mind project experiences at night. I never was able to compare my inner experience with real, physical counterpart. Now that I had it. Yes, my inner experience are just as real as my helicopter ride. While I mind travelled, I sometimes felt the sensation of sharp turn when changing the flight direction without my conscious control, I felt the same sensation when I rode on the Helicopter. While mind travelling without a body, I felt the same way as I did in the helicopter ride.

This experience got me thinking, what a crude method of travel with a body! If I train myself long enough and hard enough, I would be able to surf the Himalaya mountain, cruise over the Mount Everest, fly above the galaxy, the star and anywhere I want using only my consciousness with instant vibration! It is not impossible to do! Why a body that need to wait in the long line for custom checking and inspection, a body need to be fed, a body need to sleep in a fancy expensive hotel, a body need to be transported by car, by plane that cost thousands of dollars. Why?

I know it is a strange phenomenon that I have experienced in my inner world. But the truth is, it is not strange at all. Majority of humanity forget about the origin of who we are, our divine origin that is. We are free spirit, pure and simple.

Last night, I had a strange pressurized sensation around my head area while I was ready to sleep, it felt like someone was pulling my hair, and in an instant I was off flying. My night musing is usually short, it lasts about 10 to 15 seconds. Since I am conscious and aware and the places I visit are unusual, all the while making the experience very memorable.

The truth!

From beginning of time, mankind is searching for the truth of our identity. Is it accident or is it by design that we are born into earth plane to pain and pleasure? Is there something call fate or destiny? Do we have free well in the midst of our destiny?

I don't have answer for all of them, but with my understanding, I don't think truth has been conveyed in an enlightened manner. Majority of mankind are sleep walking, spending lots of energy doing the things that have little consequence, while failing the grade by doing the things that are seeming monumental to our temporary existence.

Religion tells us to do good, be good, you reap what you sow, "Do unto others as you want others do unto you?" The problem is no one bothers to tell you why you should do that. Well some people argue, because the law of Karma, you get what you put out. But why?

One of the truth is that we are one and the same. We might have ten thousand, ten million or ten billion faces, those faces are fragments of God, sparks of God. Through us, God experiences. So, it is probably correct to say "We are gods".

A human body is composed of many different organs, every organ has different function, one is not better than other. But by every organ working in concert, our life is sustained. Who is to say that heart is more important than liver? To support life, every part has to do its share, or life is lost. Every cell of our body could be compared to every individual in the planet earth. Every one of us is an expression of God. By living in concert and in harmony with each other, we are fully expressing God in highest level, we are then in good health, enjoying happiness.
